Stitch-Nine was established in retail premises in the main street of Oban in 1986. The owners, Maureen and Alistair Nicol plus a small team of skilled craftspeople built up a successful business but early in 2007 we decided to re-model the business, dispose of the shop in George Street and concentrate all our efforts on providing you, the customer, with a service which is more responsive to your needs.
Instead of having to go into town to view pattern books and seek design advice on curtains etc., the pattern books and the advice come to you. In this way we are in a much better position to offer advice, and you can view the fabrics, and consider design ideas and colour schemes in the room setting concerned. This not only produces better design but makes choosing much easier too.
You simply start off by getting in touch with us. You can do this by phone on 01631 710713. If we’re out hanging curtains please leave a message. You can also send a fax to the same number. Alternatively, you may wish to send us an email .
We can then arrange a mutually convenient time to visit the location of the work that you plan to have done. When you have decided what it is you would like us to do, we will give you a written firm quotation. As part of our quotation we will also give an estimated date for the completion of the work. Up to this point you are under no obligation whatsoever, unless by prior agreement you have agreed to pay travel expenses (this may apply in the case of long travel distances and island locations).
When you place your order we ask you to pay one third of the value of the order. The remainder is payable when the work has been done to your satisfaction. In most cases this will include installation of the curtains, blinds etc. and their associated hardware such as poles and tracks.
Curtains can be unlined, lined or interlined, and there is a wide selection of heading types to choose from including the currently popular eyelet heading.
Blinds can be made to close off any shape of window opening. This is particularly true in the roofs of conservatories where special shapes are often required. In such cases pleated blinds are usually employed.
Roman blinds are very popular right now and these can be made in any suitable fabric from our extensive range of pattern books. Venetian blinds and Vertical blinds continue to be a significant portion of the work we do.
The photos of our work displayed on this website are all included with the enthusiastic permission of the customers concerned. All are jobs completed in the past year.
